Tamar: The Caring Sister (vv. 8-19)
- Willingly served her brother.
- Refused his sexual advances.
- Pleaded with him to make different choices.
- Begged him to add shame to his assault.
- Lived with the devastation in isolation.
Amnon: The Selfish Brother (vv. 1-17)
- His lust was overwhelming.
- His pouting was pronounced.
- His plan was deceitful.
- His sin was reprehensible.
- His disgust was inevitable.
Jonadab: The Cunning Cousin (vv. 3-5)
- He was a crafty man.
- He put together a despicable plan.
Absalom: The Defending Brother (vv. 20-22)
- Sought out what happened.
- Directed Tamar to keep quiet.
- Provided a place of protection.
- Hated Amnon because of the sin he committed.
Applications from this Passage
- Parents: Do not allow your past failures to affect future actions.
- Victims should be helped, heard, seen, and offered hope.
- Sin should always be dealt with Biblically.

- How can you make sure you are being the parent that God directs you to be?
- What help are you getting if you are or have been a victim?
- Who is in your life that you have given permission to call you out?
- When you make friends what are your non-negotiables?
- How are you seeking to protect the at risk?
