  • The king who tried to cover it up. (Chapter 11:14-27)
  • The king who was confronted and confessed. (Chapter 12:1-14)
  • The king who returned. (Chapter 12:15-31 )

Outline of the Last Act (II Samuel 12)

Scene 1
  1. The Lord pursues his child (David) (v. 1)
  2. Servant (advisor) offers story and judgement (vv. 1-15)
  3. David confesses to the Lord (v. 13)
Scene 2
  1. The Lord takes a child (vv. 15, 18-19)
  2. Servants (advisors) offer support and questions (vv. 17, 21)
  3. David turns to the Lord (v. 16, 19-20, 22-23)

Outtakes of Grace

  1. The Lord is relational to draw us out of our sin. Grace allows us to accept responsibility and confess.
  2. The Lord is right to judge sin. Grace allows us to accept the consequences remembering the substitute.
  3. The Lord is near despite our sin. Grace allows us to accept him by faith.
  4. The Lord is merciful when we sin. Grace grants forgiveness and allows us to embrace it.
  5. The Lord is faithful to restore us from sin and the sin of others. Grace accepts dependency on the path.
