Big Idea: We must constantly cultivate a proper attitude towards our possessions.

A man’s request (v. 13)

• “Get me my share”

Jesus’ response (v. 14-15)

• Warning: “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed.”
• Truth: “Man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions”.

Jesus’ parable

• His Plentiful Crop (v. 16)
• His Problem (v. 17)
• His Plan (vv. 18-19)
  
  • He could not think past himself…. This man’s equation for abundant life was:
    • stuff + more stuff used for myself=abundant life
  • He could not think past the here and now.

God’s response (v. 20-21)

How to cultivate a proper attitude towards stuff:

• Identify the inroads of greed in your life.
• Intentionally plan to invest in the kingdom.
