Sermon Outline
When God Seems Silent
Big Idea: When God seems silent, we need to keep calling on him and trusting
his unfailing love.
1. Vent to God about it (v.1-2):
- It’s ok to vent to God. God is bigger than your frustration. He’s not rattled by your
feelings, questions, or complaints.
- No one goes completely untouched by dark days
- Be genuine. David was.
- Pray.
- Warning: Don’t be quick to judge your relationship with God negatively simply
because God seems silent.
2. Keep asking for deliverance from it (v. 3-4):
- He does not complain to MEN about his circumstances and God. Instead he
complains to GOD about his circumstances and men.
- Go directly to God, David did.
3. Trust God in it (v.5-6):
- Interpret circumstances through the lens of God’s committed love for me and
not vice versa - Bring our emotions under the jurisdiction of God’s character and purposes.
- When you don’t know what to do go back to what you know
