Notes from this sermon
Jesus is a way maker
Doesn’t matter what you’ve done in your life, no mater how far you’ve gone, Jesus is a way maker
This is the message of the church: repent, for the kingdom is at hand
Come follow me, watch how I do what I was sent to do
You know who I am, but that’s not enough
That’s the start, but now come follow me
Why is Jesus at the Sea of Galilee looking for fisherman, why not at the synagogue or the Bible college
He chose the menial job of the day
He didn’t go to the religious establishment
He’s not looking for people who have it all together
He’s here to save the lost
Didn’t come to condemn the world but to save it
A true disciple, a true believer of Jesus Christ is one who follows him
You can have knowledge of God but not know God
Are you following Christ? Are you about what his mission is?
"Follow me and I will make you fishers of men"
Who’s going to do the work? Give me the grace and the wisdom? Christ does this: “I will make you fishers of men”
He gives you the authority to speak on His behalf because He knows you and you know Him
Don’t let satan make you forget what Jesus did on the cross
Their knowledge of who Christ is must result in action, it’s more than head knowledge
Action needs to follow the knowledge
How will you catch fish without a net?
The action is demanded
Christ said “come,” not “will you come?”
We’ve got to catch the fish around us
Why did Jesus heal people?
He was a man of compassion; he was authenticating his power, and he was showing that the gospel will set you free
Man's greatest need is to have his heart saved, we need a savior for our souls beyond physical healing
