Are You Missing The Signs?

Sermon Outline

BIG IDEA: Missing the signs that point to Jesus will lead to trouble.

1. Religious pretense blinded them to the truth about Jesus (v.1)

• Pharisees = self-righteousness
• Sadducees = self-indulgence

2. They had already made up their minds that he was NOT the Messiah
(v.1)

• Warning: Not everyone who wants to discuss or debate about Jesus, is genuinely curious.

3. They lacked spiritual sight (2 Cor. 4:3-4)

• Prayer ought to be the first, the middle, and the end of all our efforts
  to share Christ with others.

4. The disciples themselves were also in danger of missing the truth
about Jesus.

• All they could think about was their problem…they had no bread!
• Solution: Remember his provision in the past.
