Sermon Study Guide
Review the Gospel:
- God - recognize that we are accountable to the God who created you.
- Man - understand that we have a problem in that we have rebelled against God (sin) and will be accountable for our absolute rejection of him.
- Christ - the solution to our rejection of God and our sin is the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- Response - to become born again and saved from our sin is through faith in Jesus Christ. So, turn from your sin, and believe through faith in Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Ephesians 2:8–9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. (ESV)
Discuss your inward desires in terms of lust. What are some things that could stir up those feelings of desire in your heart? How might men and women (generally speaking) differ in their struggle with lust?
Is there anything worth giving up in your life to aid you in pursuing righteousness when it comes to inward purity?
Study James 1:13-15. How might desire lead to sin?
