Why was Christ tempted? (vs.1)

• He wanted to identify with us
• He wanted to demonstrate His sinlessness

How do we deal with temptation?  (vs.2-11)

The devil tested Christ in three areas:

• The Lust of the flesh (vs.2-4)
• The Pride of life (vs. 5-7)
• The Lust of the eyes 8-10)

The Lord gave us His plan for victory

• He quoted Scripture
• He called out lies with truth

What did He do after the temptation? (vs.12-17)

• He proceeded with caution
• He fulfilled Scripture
• He preached repentance

Let’s Review

God tests and Satan tempts.  Embrace the testing with Christ

Christ showed us the way to victory.  Embrace His plan

Christ followed the path God had for Him.  Embrace His path
