BIG IDEA: Ponder the significance of the cross.

1. Recognize the true identity of Jesus

Jesus King of the Jews (v. 37)

The Savior of men (v.42)

The Son of God (v.43)

2. Marvel at the eternal plan of God.

3. Grasp the effects of the crucifixion.

• Jesus is ready to forgive anyone no matter who they are, what they have done, if they bow down and recognize him as Savior.
• Salvation is by grace alone through faith in Christ alone.
• It’s never too late

Application steps

1. Focus on the significance of the cross this season.
2. Take Jesus up on his offer of forgiveness and eternal life.
